Congratulations go out to the following students for being selected into the John Phillip Sousa Honor Bands;

 RED BAND MEMBERS:  Emily Allen, Bass Clarinet; Matt McKenna, Trumpet; Jeff Penner, Trombone.

 BLUE BAND MEMEBER:  Justin Swarts, Baritone.  These students will have the opportunity to work with two outstanding directors in January.  The students will be traveling to Lawrence to spend the weekend on the campus of K.U. The concert will be held on January 26th.  This is the greatest number of students that we have had make this band over the last couple of years!  WAY TO GO!      

 The 8th grade bands are busy preparing for our upcoming concert on December 18th.  This concert will feature the Symphonic Band; The Wind Ensemble; and the Jazz Band.  All groups have been busy preparing traditional concert music, as well as some favorite Holiday pieces.  Please mark this date on your calendar!  Come and relax to an evening of great music.

       The 8th grade Jazz band has been "feverishly" preparing six or so Christmas tunes to take on tour.  We are planning on taking our show on the road on the 14th of December, with stops at Wesley Towers, an elementary school or two, and than a Hutchinson Mall performance.  Please stop by the Mall at 2:00 to catch some great festive music!  Both high school jazz groups will be in performance with us that day.

       Several of our students, as well as quite a few high school students, will be performing at Tuba Christmas in Wichita, on December 11th.  Tubas and baritone players from all over south central Kansas combine together to perform a concert of Christmas Carols prior to the Wichita Symphony Concert.  If you would like more information on this concert, please contact Ms. Pelischek.

       The 7th grade bands had a very successful concert on November 15th.  Both bands performed three selections.  The Jazz Band also entertained the audience with some favorite "50's" music.  All bands are now preparing music for our Mass Band Concert which will take place in February.

       We hope you can catch some of our groups in concert over the next few weeks.  It would be a great way to kick off your Holidays!!
