Fresh Look At HMS 8

Some new things are in the making this year at HMS 8. Have you ever wanted to give leadership a try? Do you like working with others? Do you want to have your voice heard as a student? Have you ever wanted to mentor a PEER? Do you like a challenge or more exciting yet, do you like making a difference in your school?

If you answered yes to any of these questions then 8th grade can and will be a fun and exciting year. That’s something to cheer about.

Student Council Allows You:

• To give input about your school
• To plan special events or projects
• To fundraise for student activities
• To support students
• To give the student body a "voice"
• To socialize with other students

Student Advocate

As a student council member you will serve as an important link between the student body and the school. As a member of the student council you will attend regular meetings.

The meetings have been set for two times a month. The meeting dates are scheduled for the 2nd and 4th Monday’s of the month starting at 7:30 a.m. in Mrs. Smith’s TACS Class, Room 105. Our first meeting will be held on Monday, September 10, 2007.

There you will develop leadership skills, plan community services, begin to address student concerns, hold fundraisers, and set your own goals for this school year. Most of all, you will as a council effectively represent the concerns of classmates.
