MASTER PLAN -THE BASICS

During goal setting for the 2002-2003 school year, USD 308 Board of Education members realized they needed to take a long-term look at district facilities. Having recently closed two World War I era buildings, Board members felt they needed professional assistance to match student educational needs with district facilities.

As a result in April 2003, the Board hired The DLR Group, a firm known internationally for educational facilities usage, educational program planning and architecture.

Throughout the process, The DLR Group has been meeting with district staff, Board members and community representatives for input. The DLR Group realizes we are the experts on the needs for our community. The firm’s expertise, in turn, is for matching educational needs with facilities.

A master facility plan is a proactive plan to solve a list of facility needs that have been identified by teachers, staff, board members and school patrons. These needs are based on the current status of school buildings as well as a projection of the learning and program needs of students.
