Business Professionals of America and Graber Elementary
Community Service Project
The Business Professionals of America organization at Hutchinson High School is planning on doing a fundraiser activity at Graber Elementary School. This is a way for the high school and elementary school to work together for the betterment of the community. It also exposes both schools to the importance of giving back and helping people in need.
After a meeting with the Business Professionals of America organization, Lora Randolf (counselor), and Grade Representatives at Graber Elementary we came to an agreement about the following community service project:
We are having the Graber students collect money on behalf of the March of Dimes, which uses the funds to “save babies”. The students in the club will be leaders / facilitators for the elementary school students.
At the Kick Off Date – April 14th the club wants to speak to all the classes, explaining the mission and purpose of the March of Dimes and what the students will be doing to raise money. They will also be presenting hands on materials so that the students can understand more clearly.
Each student will be receiving a little bank to collect money; they can use this to collect money from family members, neighbors and friends. We will chart the class progress throughout the weeks on a bulletin board in the school. The Club will count the money raised on Wednesdays and Fridays. (Teachers will collect the money on these days and the club will count.)
The fundraiser will last about 2 weeks. This activity is planned to beginning April 14th and ending April 25th. Their goal for this 2 week fundraiser is around $500.00
For the students’ efforts, on May 2nd the Business Professionals of America Club will be sponsoring a movie day with drinks and popcorn for the whole school.
