District Developed Professional Development Opportunities
In response to the results of the Professional Development Needs
Assessment Survey conducted in September 2006 an effort has been made to
address the needs identified by the respondents. With input from
appropriate staff, the following definitions were established:
• Mini-workshop = A mini-workshop is a session, up to one hour in
length, that is held after school or is infused/integrated into an
already established structure, i.e., grade level, department meetings.
1/2-Day Workshop = 3 hours of training
1 Day Workshop = 6 to 7 hours of training
Multiple Day Workshop = consecutive training days
• PDC Points for Salary Movement
All Mini-workshops held after contract hours will be eligible for salary
movement when taken to the Application Level. See Article XX of the
Professional Agreement for clarification.
No mini-workshop will be offered for payment.
All Mini-workshops must be approved by the BOE and PDC in order to
qualify for salary movement.
• District Sponsored Summer Workshops
District sponsored summer workshops participants will be able to chose
whether they wish to be paid for the workshop or use the points for
salary movement at the Application Level.
• Documenting Application Level when Using PDC Points for Movement
Application level must be documented when using PDC points for Movement
even though the number of points being awarded is less than 12. Existing
methods of documenting Application Level achievement may be used when
requesting Application Level points for Movement. These may include
lesson plans, copies of student work over time, verification by a
building administrator, photographs, etc.
• All Mini-Workshops will be listed in the District Catalog and District
Calendar on MLP.com.
