Empty Bowls posterThe annual Empty Bowls Hunger Awareness Fundraiser has moved.

Instead of being held in the Hutchinson High School cafeteria, the fundraiser will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, in the Hutchinson Art Center, 405 N. Washington St.

For a donation, individuals can get a hand-made ceramic bowl crafted by HHS students, teachers and the community. The suggested donation is $15 for adults and $5 for children.

Students need up-to-date vaccinations

Kansas’ law requires students to be vaccinated for a variety of childhood diseases prior to attending school each year. Many of these are timed prior to pre-school and kindergarten while another group of vaccinations have to be taken prior to seventh grade. More complete information is available at http://www.kdheks.gov/immunize/download/Immunization_Requirements_for_the_2018-2019_School_Year_Cheat_Sheet.pdf.

Enrollment is not completed in USD 308 until proof of vaccinations is provided, therefore students will not be able to attend classes. Families also may provide proof of a medical or religious exemption in lieu of the vaccinations, but state regulation requires the exemptions to be filed annually.
