What is a Magnet school?

A magnet school is a school with a specific focus that accepts students based on an application. Students can apply to Allen no matter where they live, the school does not have a boundary.

What are the qualifications for getting in?

Students are accepted into Allen based on their answers to the application questions. Some things we look for when reviewing applications include- past performance in school, family involvement, and how well the students needs align with our vision.

Do I need to live in the 308 district to attend Allen STEM Magnet School?

No! We provide in-person education for students from around the Reno County area. For non-USD 308 students interested in attending Allen STEM Magnet, you must apply using the Non-Resident application between January 1 and June 30th each year. From January 1 through June 30, each school district shall accept applications from nonresident students. On or before July 15 of each year, if the number of applications is less than seats available, the nonresident students shall be accepted. If the number of applications is greater than the seats available at a grade level, the school district shall randomly select nonresident students using a confidential lottery process.
Once a nonresident student has been accepted, they shall be permitted to continue until they graduate from high school, unless student is no longer in good standing in accordance with the nonresident transfer policy.

What is the application process?

You simply fill out an application online or in person at the school's office. You may apply at any time of the school year, but it is recommended to do so in the spring or summer prior to the start of the new school year. After the application is received, the student's parent or guardian will receive a phone call from the school regarding admission.
