2022 Kansas Teacher of the Year Team Honored by KSDE

HUTCHINSON, KANSAS – The Regional Kansas Teacher of the Year winner from Hutchinson High School will be honored by the Kansas State Department of Education tomorrow, Wednesday, January 26, 2022, along with the other members of the 2022 Kansas Teacher of the Year team.

Amber Carithers, an English Teacher at Hutchinson High School, was named a Regional Kansas Teacher of the Year finalist in March of 2021. Carithers now serves on the Kansas Teacher of the Year (KTOY) team for 2022, and has spent time this week at the Kansas State Department of Education meeting with Commissioner of Education Dr. Randy Watson, and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Brad Neunenswander.

“It is an honor to represent Hutchinson USD 308 here in Topeka,” said Carithers.

The 2022 KYOT team will be recognized on the Senate floor on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. The team will also be individually addressing the House and Senate Education Committees about their message for education and answering questions about education issues impacting teachers and students.

“We are so proud of Amber Carithers and the work she is doing on behalf of USD 308. We are happy to see her representing our district, and we will be cheering her on as she is honored tomorrow,” said USD 308 superintendent Mike Folks.
