woman moves curtain to show snacks in classroom pantry

Teacher starts snack pantry at Hutch elementary school

Ms. Schultz, First Grade Teacher at Lincoln-McCandless Elementary and a recent K-State College of Education grad, has created a snack pantry for LME students.

These afternoon snacks can help with mood regulation and sustain energy throughout the day. Snacking even helps picky eaters add more nutrients to their diet.

Ms. Schultz believes strong community partnerships are important to success in school. “What I hope is that students see that there are adults who love them and care about them, not only in our school but in our community,” Schultz said. Thank you to First Presbyterian Church Hutchinson Kansas volunteers and youth group for providing snacks for the snack pantry as well as the take-home pantry.
