In the summer of 2025, the USD 308 Board of Education adopted a policy regarding the use of cell phones, headphones, and earbuds. This policy outlines permitted usage and designated times for student use and is tailored by grade band. The policy was approved and incorporated into the 2025–2026 student handbooks. The elementary school policy can be found at www.usd308.com/handbooks. If you have questions, please contact your building principal.

The elementary policy states: “All student cell phones and headphones/earbuds will be turned off and placed in backpacks upon entering the school and will remain put away until leaving school.

Accommodations: Students with documented medical or educational needs requiring phone access (e.g., medical monitoring, language interpretation apps) will be accommodated as documented in IEPs or 504 plans.

📚✨ Mid-summer check-in... and it's *booked* solid! Back in May, every elementary student got their very own @HutchPL library card, and so far they've checked out 1,048 books and counting! That's a lot of page-turning, imagination-fueling, brain-growing goodness! 🙌📖 Haven’t seen your student’s card? No problem! They can still check out books—just swing by the circulation desk at the library and they’ll help you out.
