Hutchinson Middle School will see changes in two track meets and an early release day the week of April 19 because of the NJCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Normally the third week of April, HMS hosts a small “quad” track meet and a larger invitational track meet. HMS will do that in 2021, but the order of the meets have been reversed.
The early release day for Hutchinson Middle School will be on Tuesday, immediately ahead of the invitational track meet. The invitational has been moved to Buhler High School’s track, far away from Gowans Stadium where buses and spectators would have been vying for parking along with the NJCAA tournament at the nearby Sports Arena.
Early release on Tuesday is noon. Only HMS has an early release day on Tuesday. The track meet, then, begins in Buhler at 1 p.m.
Then on Thursday, the smaller quad track meet will move from Gowans to Don Michael Field and begins at 3:30 p.m. Parking for Don Michael is north of Hutchinson High School, along 17th and Severance Streets and at Graber Elementary School.
