Dear HMS8 Families,
We are excited to announce an early release once again for all schools to join together for the Hutch High Homecoming Parade on Friday, October 2nd. Early release will be one hour earlier than usual, at 2:20PM. Start time is not affected.
Boys & Girls Club, Trinity Treasures, and Hadley Daycare will pick up students for the early dismissal. Durham bus will also bus students home as usual with the early release.
The parade route is back at 11th and Plum again this year! The parade will begin at 14th and Plum, traveling south to 11th Street and then East along 11th Street to the Stringer Fine Arts parking lot. For best viewing and candy pickup, the parade will be on the North side of the street when it turns onto 11th.

Big news for the Salthawk family.
After 34 years in public education — including five years leading Hutchinson Public Schools — Superintendent Dr. Dawn M. Johnson has announced she will retire at the conclusion of the 2026-2027 school year. From the classroom to district leadership — and alongside an extraordinary 41-year career of service in the U.S. Army Reserve — Dr. Johnson has dedicated her life to serving others. While there is still an entire school year of important work ahead, we are grateful for Dr. Johnson's leadership, her commitment to our students and staff, and the lasting impact she has made on Hutchinson Public Schools.

While our summer meal service has ended, families can pick up lunches via drive-thru on the West side of the Reno County Food Bank building at 921 E. 4th, Monday through Friday, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm. Service ends on August 12th.
