The start of a new school year is right around the corner, and Hutchinson Public Schools is ready to kick things off in style with its annual Convocation event on Wednesday, August 6, at 8:00 a.m. All USD 308 staff are invited to come together to celebrate, connect, and launch the 2025–26 school year with energy and purpose. Wednesday, August 6 is the first day USD 308 staff return to work for the 2025-2026 school year.

The morning will begin with a delicious breakfast generously provided by Heartland Credit Union, giving staff a chance to catch up with colleagues and fuel up for a full day ahead. The West Arena doors open at 7:30 am. The event will take place at the Sports Arena, located at 11th and Severance.

The program will also include a special time to recognize and honor outstanding members of the USD 308 family. Staff will celebrate recipients of the Davis Foundation Awards, recognize years of service milestones, and highlight Employees of the Year—those who go above and beyond each day to support students and staff across the district.

The highlight of the morning will be a keynote address by Enrico Villegas, City Manager for the City of Hutchinson. Known for his engaging and inspiring presence, Mr. Villegas will share a message that speaks to the heart of public service, leadership, and the vital role residents play in shaping our community’s future. Superintendent Dr. Johnson will speak at the event to share the district's goals for the 2025–2026 school year. She will also present important information about the upcoming bond proposal.

Following the keynote and a short program, staff will have the opportunity to visit a Resource Fair featuring community organizations and vendors offering helpful tools, information, and giveaways to support a successful school year.

Convocation is more than just a meeting—it’s a celebration of our shared mission and a reminder that we're all in this together. Let’s start the year strong, united, and inspired.

We’ll see you there!

Please note that convocation is a staff-only event. Students in grades 1 through 9 will begin the school year on August 13th. Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors start on August 14th. Kindergarteners will begin on August 19th.
