HHS to Host Flu Vaccine Clinic with RCHD

HUTCHINSON, KANSAS – The Reno County Health Department will hold a vaccine clinic at Hutchinson High School on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to provide flu vaccines for USD 308 staff, their families, and students.

The flu vaccine clinic will be held in the Salthawk Activity Center Lobby located at 810 East 13th Avenue, Hutchinson, KS. Forms needed for the vaccine clinic can be found by visiting this link and should be filled out before arriving at the clinic. Paper copies can be obtained in the nursing office at HHS. Attendees should also bring a copy of their insurance.

If you are unable to attend the clinic at HHS, RCHD will be visiting USD 308 school buildings through the beginning of November to allow the flu vaccine to be easy and accessible. Please contact your building for information on dates and times of flu shot clinics.

"It is important to get the flu vaccine every year because the virus evolves from year to year and last year's flu vaccine may not protect you against this year's flu strain. Even when the vaccine doesn't completely prevent the flu, it still may lessen the severity of symptoms associated with the flu and hopefully reduce the risk of serious complications and help prevent any need for hospitalization due to the flu,” said Hutchinson High School nurse, Tyleigh Mattison, RN, BSN.

For specific questions regarding the flu vaccine that will be given, the Reno County Health Department is available at 620-694-2900.
